Description |
| The Georgia Department
of Human Services, Division
of Aging Services (DAS) is seeking qualified candidates for
the position of Aging Services Program Grants Specialist.
This
is a time limited position and will end 9-29-14. |
|
This position is required
for the oversight of the Older Americans Act Title IV Part A - “Accelerating
Integrated, Evidence-Based, and Sustainable Service Systems for
Older Adults, Individuals with Disabilities and Family Caregivers”
and Part B – “Creating Dementia Capable, Sustainable
Service Systems For Persons With Dementia And Their Family Caregivers”
grants
Applicant will be responsible for assisting with grant administration
that will ensure that older adults, individuals with disabilities
and family caregivers have clear and ready access to a sustainable,
integrated system that offers a comprehensive set of high quality,
evidence-based services that can help them remain independent and
healthy in the community.
The position responsibilities include contract and budget management
for Title IV of the OAA programs within the Livable Communities
Section. The incumbent will be responsible for organizing and monitoring
specific activities associated with the grant and will include working
with program specialists within the Livable Communities section
and with other program owners across DAS sections. Duties include:
assisting with drafting contracts and monitoring timeliness of contracts
execution; preparing request for proposals, submitting request for
purchase orders, tracking grant expenditures and reconciling expenditures
to financial reports on a monthly basis; reviewing financial reconciliation
reports with Program staff on a monthly basis; tracking program
activities and work plan deliverables and providing reports to Program
staff on a monthly basis; reviewing and reconciling financial and
program reports from grant contractors; draft federal fiscal and
programmatic reports for review by Program staff on a semi-annual
basis; monitoring data collection by grantees and DAS; assist with
collection and analysis of performance measurement data. |
| Qualifications
|
Completion of a four-year
degree in financial management, public administration, business administration,
or related field AND Two years experience at a level
equivalent to Division of Aging Services Coordinator
OR
Completion of a Master’s degree in a financial management, public
administration, business administration or a closely related field
AND One year experience at a level equivalent to
Division of Aging Services Coordinator. |
| Preference will be
given to candidates, who in addition to meeting the qualifications
listed above, possess the following: |
- Licensure or certification in a field related to the
area of assignment, e.g. certification in Gerontology
- Extensive experience with developing excel spreadsheets and
budget management that include multiple contractors and varying
match and or in-kind requirements
- Experience with writing request for proposals (RFPs)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- AoA demonstration grant management including submission of
reports and data collection and analysis
- Knowledge of and experience working with Aging Network.
- Strong proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GroupWise, ACCESS, Microsoft Project,
etc.

Note: Current state employees are subject to
the statewide salary plan administration practices. This position
is a pay grade 16 on the statewide salary plan. |
