As a result of House Bill 228 by the General Assembly,
the legislative body reorganized the Department of Human Resources
(DHR) into three separate departments; the Department of Community
Health (DCH), a new Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental
Disabilities (DBHDD) and the Department of Human Services (DHS),
formerly known as the Department of Human Resources.

DBHDD
is responsible for all mental health, developmental disability and
addictive disease programs formerly under DHR.
Hiring NURSES
|
DHS divisions/offices include Division of Aging,
Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) and Office of
Child Support Services (OCSS).

Case Workers
|
DCH
is organized to include all the public health and
health and long-term care regulation programs of DHR. This change
establishes one lead agency to focus on improving Georgia’s
health and streamlines health related activities currently in two
separate departments.
